3. Collaborative editing

Based on whether or not the article is ready, there will be a back-and-forth process between you and the editing team to refine the piece, ensuring complete satisfaction between both parties.

4. Final approval

The Editor-in-Chief, along with the Directors, provide final approval before publication, ensuring the article is clear, fits Bocconi University standards and is respectful to students from across the world.

Style Guidelines

Content

Use Standard UK English, and follow a word count between 800-1000 words.

Tone and voice

Maintain an intellectual, yet accessible tone. George Orwell’s rules are embraced: use short words, avoid metaphors, cut unnecessary words, and prefer the active voice.

Abbreviations & acronyms

Spell out on first use (e.g. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)), then abbreviate thereafter — unless the term (like NATO) is widely recognized. When introducing a figure, include first the title and full name: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, before writing Merz.

Attribution

Always credit sources, quotes, and any previously published material with proper attribution.

International usage

Italicise words from foreign languages: avant-guarde, derrière. People whose mother tongue is a romance language often overcomplicate English grammar. Although technically grammatically correct, try to simplify sentences (Use periods, and avoid run-on sentences).

Ethics & Integrity

Agorà is committed to the highest standards of journalistic integrity. We do not accept plagiarism, fabrication, or misrepresentation of sources. All contributors must disclose potential conflicts of interest and maintain editorial independence.
Agorà is a publication produced by students in Bocconi University. All articles must adhere to the standards and rules of the university.
